The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau has backed the proposal for the casino from Hard Rock International.
In his statement on Friday, Visitors Bureau CEO John Groh and Board Chair Jennifer Furst said: “Today, we are pleased to support Mayor Tom McNamara’s recommendation of Hard Rock Rockford’s proposal and encourage its approval by the City Council.
We believe Hard Rock’s proposal is the strongest of those submitted and has the greatest likelihood to be approved by the Illinois Gaming Board.”
Hard Rock is also the favorite of the city Mayor Tom McNamara. Earlier this week, the city of Rockford recommended Hard Rock International’s casino proposal to the Illinois Gaming Board.
Mayor Tom McNamara after reviewing the casino proposals tendered by Forest City Casino, Hard Rock International, and Rock River West Casino Group decided along with city officials to forward Hard Rock’s casino proposal.
Upon approval, Hard Rock has promised an action-packed casino in the city featuring 1,500 slot machines and 55 gambling tables. The venue would also host several dining options with a Hard Rock Cafe, and a 1,600 seat entertainment facility.
Moreover, the gambling operator has guaranteed the city of Rockford $7 million in annual gambling revenue. Hard Rock has also confirmed that it could start development operations within 90 days of getting a casino license.
