Jordan Cristos Beats Manig Loeser To Win USPO Event

The 2012 WPT Legends of Poker champion, Jordan Cristos, added another tournament title to his portfolio after defeating Manig Loeser of Germany in the US Open Poker Event #2: 10,000 PLO. Jordan began the final table of the tournament as the chip leader, and he bagged all the chips after winning a tight contest with Loeser.

Speaking to USPO official after his victory, Cristos described the experience as cool and sweet. The WPT champion went on to say that the structure of the tournament was turbo-ish and he did not feel like he was more skilled than the rest of the players. Talking about his poker prowess, the player said he is no PLO expert and he could as well have been the 44th best player in the contest. However, he affirmed that he felt good about coming on top.

There’s no stopping

In his statement, Cristos expressed his interest in carrying on to the end of the tournament and hopefully emerging as the overall winner. The player said that it would be awesome to win the USPO and take the trophy home.

The contest consists of ten tournaments, and the overall winner is set to pocket a bonus of $100,000 from PokerGo in addition to the regular winning from the prize pools. At the moment, Cristos has already bagged $179,200 for topping in Event #2: 10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, and he also won $27,000 after finishing eleventh in Event: $10,000 No limit Hold’em.

Third round of the tournament

Final table of the third leg of the tournament is slated for 16 February. The two day contest begins on February 15 at the Aria Resort and casino, Las Vegas.

Other favorite contestants for the title include Stephen Chidwick of the UK who finished top in the opening event, and he is one of the players eyeing the top prize of $218,400 in the No Limit Hold’em table. Sean Winter of the US who finished second and 6th in the first and second tournaments respectively will also be fighting for a chance in the final table, for the third time in a row.
