Online gaming and gambling company, the Kindred Group, has confirmed that they are no longer pursuing a license to operate in the regulated Spanish online gambling market.
The company revealed that they had already started pursuing a Spanish gambling license through the country’s gambling regulator Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) back in December 2018. But then they were faced with a strict deadline to adjust their online gambling platform to be in tune with the Spanish market compliance requirements. As such, in the event of failing to make such adjustments, Kindred has withdrawn its license application with immediate effect’.
The online gambling group has said that at present, they are focusing on the expanding market in the US and also eyeing the re-regulated Swedish online gambling market. The company is channeling all its resources to expand in these markets.
The gambling operator’s statement talking about the Spanish gambling license reads: “Kindred remains fully committed to the Group’s strategic objective of increasing its revenue from locally licensed markets and look forward to revisiting its Spanish license application once the process opens again.”
Kindred has also revealed that they do not generate any revenue as such from the Spanish online gambling market.
Online gambling has been expanding in Spain, and recently, several online gambling operators have secured gambling licenses from the Spanish gambling regulator DGOJ.
