Macau: Sands China To Pay A Special Bonus To Its Casino Employees

Sands China, a subsidiary of the US-based Las Vegas Sands, which operates the Sands Macau casino, has announced a special bonus for its employees.

In its statement to the press on Monday, the gambling operator confirmed that it would pay a “one-time special award” to eligible full-time workers of “qualifying grades.”

It also said that the bonus would benefit 99 percent of employees. The gambling operator has over 28,000 employees. Those who have joined the company after June 1, 2019, will not be eligible for the award.

The employees who have completed at least one year of “continuous service” before August 30, 2019, will receive an award equivalent to one month’s salary, subject to a ceiling of MOP50,000 (US$6,216), reports GGR Asia.

In his statement to the press, Wilfred Wong Ying Wai, president of Sands China, said: “We are pleased to announce this one-time special award for eligible team members as a way to express our appreciation for their teamwork and dedication.”

“With Sands Macao marking its milestone of 15 years of service in Macau this year, and developments on the Londoner Macao project well on track, I look forward to working with our team members to ensure that Sands China continues to go from strength to strength,” he added.

Earlier last month, a casino labor group, New Macau Gaming Staff Rights Association (NMGSRA) urged the local government in Macau to direct casinos to release a summer bonus for employees working in the sector.
