Massachusetts Gaming Commission Could Consider Third Casino License

Massachusetts Gaming Commission in its recent announcement has said that they would reconsider talks about a new casino license south-eastern Massachusetts.

Cathy Judd-Stein, Commission Chairwoman, confirmed that following the opening of the Wynn’s Encore Boston Harbor Casino, the gambling commission is ready to consider a third gambling license.

“Since my arrival, I have let (commission Executive Director Edward R.) Bedrosian knows that I have not wanted these issues concerning Region C to get lost in the shuffle,” Judd-Stein said Thursday.

“I felt it must be a priority for us today to begin the process of being briefed and updated on the status of all matters relating to Region C.”

“It makes sense as the first immediate step for the legal team to bring us and the rest of the commission up to speed by first providing us with a legal analysis regarding the status of the motion for reconsideration,” she added.

“Precisely, I’m interested in learning whether the commission has the discretion to move ahead on it or whether all administrative remedies have been exhausted requiring the timely appeal.”

Earlier this week, on Sunday, Wynn Resort‘s Everett casino opened doors for the public.

There are two casinos in the state; one operated by MGM Resorts in Springfield and the other newly opened Wynn’s Boston Harbor.
