MGM Resorts International has said that they are in the race for an Integrated casino license in Japan’s Osaka prefecture.
Company’s Ceo Jim Murren said in a recent statement that they are committed to pursuing their plans for the Osaka casino resort. He also confirmed that their company is sticking to its ‘Osaka First’ strategic plan.
Earlier Osaka revealed the names of the gambling operators who have tendered their proposal for an integrated resort. MGM has officially made a proposal for a casino in Osaka.
MGM has also partnered with a local company Orix to pursue its casino license plans in Japan. MGM Resorts has already announced its plans for the Osaka casino and said that they are planning to invest $9 billion in the project.
MGM also said that their casino project will generate employment to the tune of 15,000 jobs. They will also channel the investment through at least 10 local companies.
The five companies who have applied are Las Vegas Sands, Wynn Resorts, MGM Resorts, Melco Resorts, and Genting Singapore. Osaka has confirmed their participation.
Osaka is looking to get its first integrated casino before the global expo in 2025.
A recent report from analysts at Sanford C. Bernstein said that the Japanese casino gambling market will be the world’s third-largest after Macau and Nevada. It estimates that the Japanese casino industry would generate about 8 billion dollars annually.
