Mohegan Sun Takes Ottawa Senator Owner To Court For 900k

Mohegan Sun is taking Ottawa Senator owner to court over a dispute about $900,000 failed payments. The gambling operator alleges that Eugene Melynk failed to pay a sum of $900,00 through bank drafts back in March 2017.

According to the lawsuit, Melynk’s five bank drafts totaling $900,000 were “dishonored” by a bank. The gambling and tribal casino operator Mohegan Sun is seeking back its funds and also an additional $15,000 in damages, costs, and interest.

Speaking to Ottawa Matters, Melnyk’s lawyer Sheldon Plener said, “As it is in litigation at this point we cannot comment other than to say we expect a swift result.”

The second quarter to June 30 has not been great for Mohegan Gaming this year. It reported a 7.5 percent year-on-year drop in its adjusted EBITDA for the second quarter of 2019 to June 30. The company posted an adjusted EBITDA of $81.6 million.

Earlier this year in May, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved a sports betting license for Mohegan Sun Pocono.
