While the sports betting bill is already at an advanced stage in New York, the state gaming commission, as it seems, is in no mood to authorize mobile sports betting in the state. However, one can expect that sports betting may come to New York casinos, and it could be authorized on Monday.
Following the authorization, one can expect to wager on sporting events at the four upstate New York casinos, Resorts World Catskills in Monticello, Rivers Casino in Schenectady, del Lago Casino in Tyre near Rochester and Tioga Downs near Binghamton.
While the state gambling commission had already drafted the sports betting regulations in January, it had allowed time for suggestions and discussions and has finally come up with a solution which calls for authorizing sports betting but on certain premises with players being physically present at the gambling venues.
Also, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state lawmakers could decide over the fate of mobile sports betting; the legislative session in the state ends on June 2019.
Those who are in favor of allowing mobile sports betting have said that it would allow the state to generate significant tax revenues and those against allowing mobile sports betting, opine that allowing mobile sports betting will trigger gambling addiction in the state.
