New Zealand’s SkyCity Reveals Plans To Expand Non-Gambling Offerings

New Zealand’s Skycity Entertainment Group has revealed its plans to extend its non-gambling offerings. The casino and gambling operator is planning to create a dedicated hotel management company.

Skycity would release new projects and has said that the new unit would take over the management. At present, all major operations of the company are run from their Auckland-based Horizon Hotel and its Adelaide Casino.

As per the reports, Brad Brunett would be heading the new division which would be known as Group GV Hotels. Colin McClean, would be the General Manager while Caroline Ah Chong-Douglas would be appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing.

Mr. Brunett also said that the move is a part of the company’s strategy to achieve continuous expansion goals. He also hinted new projects and further developments in the coming months.

Earlier this year in August, SkyCity Entertainment Group launched its Malta-based online gambling site, skycitycasino.com.The website is being managed by the Malta-based Gaming Innovation Group.

While the company is eyeing at new projects, it is facing strike at its gambling facility. In September, the Skycity Casino workers continued their strike for the second and consecutive weekend. The casino workers are demanding better pay rates for weekend and night allowance.

Unite union’s national secretary, Gerard Hehir, has said that no progress has been made in terms of negotiations with the SkyCity casino.
