To the surprise of many gambling enthusiasts and sending shock waves to Casino owners who relied a lot on advertisements on mainstream German Media, the top authority on broadcasting regulations, Media Authority of Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (MA HSH), has issued a notice prohibiting TV and radio stations from airing gambling advertisements.
Citing the provisions under the existing legislation, the German regulating authority has dispatched several letters asking TV channels and radio stations to stop airing promotional content for i-gaming operators.
Wolfgang Bauchrowitz, deputy director and legal advisor at the Media Authority of Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (MA HSH), has said that the letters issued on February 25, is fetching positive results to completely stop any gambling advertisement from appearing on radio and television. Supporting his claims, Bauchrowitz asserts that there has been a significant cut in the number and frequency of gambling Ads across the nation. The few others who have failed to comply will have to face the brunt of administrative action.
