Earlier last week, at Casino.buzz we had reported that an unknown Bettor had placed a wager of $85,000 on Tiger Woods to win the Augusta Masters title on Sunday.
The odds in favor of Woods winning the tournament were 14-1, and the $85k wager made it the single-largest liability for William hills for one single ticket in past seven years and the largest in their history for golf betting.
While Woods was a betting favorite, who would have imagined that the star golfer who hadn’t won a major since 2008 US open will have a come back in such style. Tiger Woods earned his fifth Master’s at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia this Sunday.
The unknown Nevada bettor got 14-1 odd and with woods winning his $85,000 wager fetched him winnings worth $1,190,000.
Following the results, William Hill US released a statement about the high stake bet.
Nick Bogdanovich, William Hill US director of trading, said, “It’s great to see Tiger back. It’s a painful day for William Hill — our biggest golf loss ever — but a great day for golf.”
Apart from Woods, the other players with high odds were Xander Schauffele at 40-1 and Dustin Johnson at 10-1.
PGA Championship is the next major tournament which is coming up in May, following which is the US Open in June and the British Open in July.
