Rutter’s Convenience store chain has become the first store in Pennsylvania to secure a gambling license
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has allowed’ Rutter’s convenience store chain to install video gambling at their stores in Walker Township, Juniata County.

The Pennsylvania gambling market is expanding, and the state has also legalized sports betting and online gambling.

The convenience store has also applied for a gambling license for their 19 other stores. However, as the gaming control board completed their review of the Walker Township store, it was the first to get permission to install video gambling.

PGCB spokesman Doug Harbach old pennlive that “They may need to address some issues and that might take time on their end. If remedied, they may eventually be recommended to the board for approval or, if they are not able to remedy in order to qualify under the guidelines of the act, then they may be recommended for denial.

“We are moving on them as quickly as our staffing will permit.”

Rutter’s owns and operates about 70 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.

Last month the gaming control board introduced “a self-help tool for individuals to voluntarily exclude themselves from participating in the new internet-based gaming (iGaming) activities for sports wagering and casino-like games.”
