Pennsylvania Gambling Regulator Green Signals Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino York

It’s good news for one of the biggest casino operators in the US, Penn National Gaming. Pennsylvania often called out for being a tax-hungry state when it comes to authorizing gambling activities has approved yet another casino.
According to the latest, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has green signaled the development of Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino York. The casino is expected to be built at the cost of $120 million.

The New casino will be located at the York Galleria Mall in Springettsbury Township, Pennsylvania. The gambling venue will be developed on the 80,000 square foot facility. The casino will host 500 slot machines and 24 table games.

According to the plans revealed, the gambling facility will have an accommodation capacity of 750 slot machines and 40 table games.

The new casino would also feature sports and racebook, casual restaurants and bars, an entertainment lounge and a coffee venue.

“We are very pleased with today’s unanimous approval by the PGCB and look forward to opening the doors at Hollywood Casino York as soon as possible,” noted Timothy Wilmott, chief executive officer for Penn National Gaming.

“The property will be ideally located to draw customers from south central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, while also protecting our existing market share at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.”

The gambling operator has said that the Hollywood Casino York project will create up to 200 new permanent jobs It has also said that there will be 250 construction jobs. The project is expected to be completed in approximately 12 months.

The casino could start welcoming guests by the end of 2020. Penn National Gaming had an earlier bid of $50,100,000 at the first Category 4 auction held by the PGCB to secure the entire area on which it seeks to develop the casino.

2 percent of gross tax revenue on slot machines and 1 percent from table games will go to the Springettsbury Township.

“Hollywood Casino York will become an economic engine in Springettsbury Township and the greater community.”

“We have already met with local workforce development organizations to begin the process of identifying our future team members and creating approximately 200 new permanent jobs in York County,” said Wilmott.
