Pennsylvania is developing a new satellite casino, the first of its kind in the state. Despite a green flag from the Caernarvon Township Board of Supervisors, the locals have been vocal about developing yet another Casino in Pennsylvania.
For the authorities, the concerns of the locals were outweighed by the fact that the new satellite casino is going to bring an additional $94.3 million to the state’s economy.
Not only the economic benefits in terms of tax and revenue but according to Penn National Gaming, Pennsylvania’s satellite casino project will also create 255 jobs during its development stage, and 25 permanent jobs when the project is up and running.
Estimates suggest that the casino will also generate $1.6 million in taxes annually.
In the history of the Satellite Casino project is the state’s’ endorsement of a gaming expansion plan 18 months ago. Though the Penn National Gaming was initially opposed to the idea of bringing in new casinos in Pennsylvania, it eventually gave up as the local lawmakers had voted for the expansion of gaming facilities.
As a result, the operator got the contract for $50 million. The new casino will be developed in York County. The operator strategically chose the location as York County is also the fifth most populated city in the state.
While this would be first of its kind Casino, the state may soon have other satellite casinos coming up. Online gambling was legalized in Pennsylvania in October 2017, and since then it has emerged as the second biggest gambling market in the US with its land-based casinos reaping $3.24 Billion in revenues for 2018.
