Pennsylvania Sports Betting Remains Strong Despite NFL Season Ending

USA – It has been reported today that sports betting in the state of Pennsylvania remains strong in growth despite the NFL season ending last month.

According to official reports, the state has taken almost 350 million dollars in bets for the month of January alone, a figure that is up six million from the record holding month of December.

Lead analyst at Play Pennsylvania Dustin Gouker commented on the figures:

“Pennsylvania’s momentum is growing, and January shows that the state’s sportsbook’s can sustain it even as the NFL season winds down.”

Gouker continued as he expanded on what the data shows compared to gambling in other US states:

“Pennsylvania will likely remain the nation’s No. 3 market for the foreseeable future. But it is becoming clearer that it will one day challenge Nevada and New Jersey as the largest legal sports betting market in the U.S.”

January’s figure of almost 350 million dollars is up more than three-hundred million compared with year on year figures for the same period in the previous year.

Reportedly, over eighty percent of the total wagers in sports betting in January came from online.

Since the launch of legal sports betting in the Keystone State, sports betting providers have generated gross revenue figures in excess of one hundred million dollars.

Dustin Gouker added:

“The opportunities for growth are abundant for Pennsylvania. It’s population base is a huge advantage. Infrastructure issues have slowed the state’s development. But the industry is unquestionably getting past its growing pains.”

The current population of Pennsylvania is 12.8 million, many of whom wager on fantasy sports, one of the most popular areas of sports betting in the state. There are currently eight licensed providers of fantasy sports including: DraftKings, FanDuel, Boom Fantasy and Yahoo Fantasy Sports.

Gouker elaborated on which sports betting brand is leading the race in Pennsylvania:

“DraftKings has been aggressively marketing itself in Pennsylvania, and it is making some headway in its attempt to catch up with FanDuel. But it still has a long way to go. Meanwhile, the expected launch later this year of the Barstool-branded online casino and sportsbook will add intrigue to a market that has been predictably controlled by the two most recognizable brands in online sports betting.”
