Pennsylvania To Auction License For Five More Mini-Casinos

Pennsylvania is all set to award licenses for five more mini-casinos.

The state has been at the forefront of gambling expansion as it has already launched sports betting while online gambling is about to go live from 15 July.

The move to auction to grant licenses for the mini-casinos was authorized in 2017 by the state government.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Wednesday approved a motion to restart auctions starting Sept. 4.

The auctions were stopped last year after the gaming board did not receive any bids for a sixth mini casino license.

Only licensed casino operators in the state are authorized to be a part of the auctions. Currently, there are 12 licensed casino operators in the state. A new casino is under construction in Philadelphia. \

Pennsylvania is second only to Nevada in terms of commercial casino revenue. It is the leader in generating tax revenue from its regulated gambling industry.

Recently, The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has allowed’ Rutter’s convenience store chain to install video gambling at their stores in Walker Township, Juniata County.

Rutter’s owns and operates about 70 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.
