The New York Gaming Commission has allowed casinos in New york to cut short the number of slot machines. In a recent talks with the Gaming Commission, Resorts World Catskills and Tioga Downs, two popular casinos in the city have decided to cut the number of slot machines at the facility.

While the Resorts World Catskills will bring down it’s slot machines by 550 machines, Tiger Downs will let go 50 machines.

The move will also help the casinos to efficiently make the maximum from their deployed assets. It said that reducing the number of machines at the venues will allow the casinos to “maximise the efficiency of asset utilisation and patron opportunity without negative effects on the patron experience, facility employment or state revenue.”

Tiger Downs owner, Jeff Gural, said: “We had more slots and tables than we needed, but needed space to provide for sports betting.”

The decision to cut short on the number of slot machines may help Resort World Catskill. Recently Resort World Catskill reported a loss of $140 million for the financial year ending December 2018.

Catskill is also relying on the sports wagering in casinos. Sports wagering may start from May for upstate New York Casinos.
