Imperial Pacific International, the company that runs the integrated casino resort Imperial Palace‧Saipan has confirmed that they are all set to open six of 15 VIP suites or Villas by 30 September.
As the casino establishment is undergoing redevelopment, phase 1 of the development process would be completed by the end of the year.
IPI’s Assistant VP of Construction, Eric Poon provided the update during a hearing with the Commonwealth Casino Commission this week.
Saipan Tribune also reported, Poon saying that around 40 workers from Mongolia would arrive the following week on temporary H2-B visas and that would ensure that the development work of the Villas is complete.
While there are already 686 construction workers on site there is a need for more to complete the entire first phase of the project in the stipulated time.
The proposal to introduce a percentage tax came after reports emerged that since July 2018, Imperial Pacific International (IPI), the gambling operator which owns and operates the casino, had only contributed $41,000 in tax revenues.
