The Valley View Casino and Hotel in San Diego completes its promising $50 million expansion plan.
The casino now hosts a total of 2,000 slot machines with 250 slot machines added as a result of the recent expansion. It also has 11 new table games making the number table games at the gambling facility 22 in total.
The entire development and expansion work took about 18 months to complete. According to the Valley View Casino, the project created about 100 new job positions. Currently, the gambling establishment employs about 950 people.
The construction project which began in March 2018 is complete, and the casino celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday.
The entire project saw an addition of 43,000 square feet to the casino floor, including adding a restaurant and public space, as well as a top-to-bottom remodel of the existing gaming floor, non-smoking casino, high-limit slot area, VIP lounge, buffet and breakfast, lunch and dinner cafe.
Ian Williams, Director of Hotel Operations and Player Development for Valley View, said: “I think it positions us for the higher end — a little more upscale, a little younger. It just sets us up to compete with any casino in Las Vegas and any casino in San Diego.”
The expansion of the Valley View Casino is the last of the eight major development projects in San Diego. San Diego has ten casinos in total.
