Swedish Gambling Authority Slaps SEK 3 Million (US $321,000) Fine On Aspire Global’s Subsidiary AG Communication.

Concluding their investigation, the Swedish gambling authority, has slapped a fine of SEK 3 Million (US $321,000) on Aspire Global’s Subsidiary AG Communication.

The companies were found to have failed to comply with Sweden’s self-exclusion regulations which makes gambling operators responsible for failing to stop problem gamblers from participating in gambling activities.

AG Communications, a subsidiary of Aspire global, allowed self-excluded gamblers access to gambling products and services. The regulator has found that the company did not stop problem gamblers from accessing gambling products on 13 online gambling sites for which they have a Swedish License. Their most prominent site Karamba.com is also in the list of sites violating the guidelines.

The investigations began in January after there were reports that those who had signed up for Spelpaus, the country’s online self-exclusion registry, could also access the website and place wagers.

The Swedish gambling authority Spelinspektionen has said that all gambling operators have to make sure that they do not offer access to their gambling products to those who are listed on the self-exclusion registry. Also, the operators are warned not to send gambling adverts or offers to self-excluded gamblers.

Though AG communications argued that they had rectified the situation and that they had no such access for excluded gamblers after January, the gambling regulator, in its investigation, found that the problem persisted until 8 February.

In March the gambling regulator had also fined Genesis Global and PAF Consulting Corp as the two companies failed to comply with Sweden’s new law requiring all gaming and gambling companies with a Swedish license to follow the self-shutdown registry.

The authority has said that if there are any further violations, the consequences would be more severe.
