Switzerland To Issue A List Of Blacklisted Gambling Operators

Switzerland has recently regulated online gambling. Earlier this month the Swiss Federal Council approved the license for the online casino Luzern following which the Swiss players will have access to regulated online gambling in the country for the first time.

The license was granted as the new Federal Act on Gambling (Gambling Act) has come into force January 1, 2019. However, while gambling establishments in Switzerland are seeking a license to offer online gambling products, the authority would now have to block the overseas gambling operators offering their products and services to the locals.

This would involve technically blocking overseas operators’ access to the Swiss market.

According to the reports, the blocking of such operators will come into effect from July 1, 2019. As such, the Swiss Federal Gaming Bank Commission (SFGB) and the Intercantonal Lottery and Competition Commission Camelot would instruct internet service providers(ISPs) to block certain online gambling sites in the country.

A list of banned and unauthorized gambling sites would be prepared and would include all gambling regulators which do not have the necessary permission to operate according to the new regulations.

The blacklist would be published in the Swiss Federal Gazette, and one can expect such blacklist by the end of July.
