The Wire Act Postponed Until July By Department Of Justice

There have been delay in the imposition of laws by the US Department of Justice in accordance with the Wire Act just to let the operators of gambling have ample time to comply to these new opinions.

Chris Grove, an analyst of online gambling, addressed on Thursday that there is a further delay of 60 days in imposition of the new Wire act opinion and the deadline is suggested to be 15th April. Gambling Compliance was informed by DOJ spokesperson that the deadline is further delayed to mid of June.

The new opinion of the Wire act not just applies to sports betting but to online gambling also. Its vague wording and legal description make skeptic the temporary data transfer while carrying lottery and gambling operations while transactions as well as growing of business by processing of payments.

A legal challenge was put forward against the new opinion of DOJ by New Hampshire Lottery Commission and the state’s attorney general this February. Another challenge filed by NeoPollard Interactive, state’s online lottery platform, the same day and idea Growth trade group filed another suit this week.

There is least probability of any repercussions against the companies violating new Wire Act stance prior to issuing of an injunction by First Circuit courts that give any protection against DOJ’s action until it’s legalized.

Delaying Of Pennsylvania Online Gambling Launch Until July

Two days after the announcement of Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) about the delay of its first intrastate gambling operations until June or July DOJ issued confirmation. Probability is that the online sports betting operation will start at the same time.

PGCB suggested its license holders to keep their activities in accordance with the new Wire Act opinion of DOJ. Kevin O’Toole, the executive director of PGCB, said this Wednesday there is only “a modest delay” in the launch schedule due to Wire Act kerfuffle. After the inking of state’s online gambling legislation by Gov. Tom Wolf there was almost 20 months postponement if it is launched in July.
