Two online casinos have been fined in Sweden for violating rules related to promoting bonus offers. The two online casinos have been fined for violating the rules more than once.
Spelinspektionen, the Swedish gambling regulator, imposed fines on two Swedish gambling regulators Betway Ltd and Mandalorian Technologies Ltd. The gambling regulator also warned the operators not to repeat the violations.
The companies were fined for violating rules related to bonus offers that could be offered to only first-time customers.
Betway, a popular online gambling company, operating under the brand name Betway.se was fined SEK5m (US$520k). Mandalorian that has local gambling license for noaccountcasino.com and prankcasino.com, was fined SEK9m ($935k).
While the gambling regulator has already penalized the two companies, they are also given a three-week window to contest against the penalties imposed.
The gambling regulator said that the two companies, though have been complying with regulations to a certain extent have failed to ensure total compliance with the existing rules. It noted that the companies needed to take “further measures to achieve full compliance.”
Sweden has recently introduced a series of new regulations, especially in regards to gambling adverts and promoting gambling products and services. The gambling regulator said that following the repeated violations by these two operators, it was forced to take some action and penalize them.
