Jason Koon grabs a whopping $2.8 million winning the Triton Poker Series in Jeju. That has brought Koon in the club of Top 10 All-Time Live Tournament Money Earned list on The Hendon Mob as he replaced Phil Ivey.
Jason Koon has ousted Phil Ivey from the Top 10 All-Time Live Tournament Money Earned list on The Hendon Mob winning the Triton Poker Series grabbing $2.8 million. In a moderately unexpected turn of events, 33-year old Jason Koon from West Virginia emerged as the winner of the Triton Poker Series. It didn’t take long as it was only in the last spring when Koon played his first in the Triton Poker Series held in Montenegro. Before that, Koon had never tried his skills at Short-Deck.
However, in a splendid display of sheer genius, Koon went on to win the HKD 1m (USD 127,000) in the No-Limit Hold’em Short-Deck event. That also got him to his all-time high of $3,579,836.
After that thunderous victory, Koon signed up with Triton Poker team as their brand ambassador. Since then Koon has made his way to the final table of 7 other Triton Events. He was on the final table at three of the four Triton’s 2019 Jeju Events with this memorable win at repeat HKD 1m Short-Deck taking $2,840,945.
Koon got better of Paul Phua who was for the second time playing on the final table of the Triton’s Jeju series. Along with Phua the two others who made to the final table winning the HKD 500,000 No-Limit Hold’em Short-Deck title for $1,239,758 were John Juanda and Devan Tang.
Moving his way up past the 81 entrants (34 new entrants and 44 re-entries) Koon’s win has got him to the ninth place on the list of All Time Tournament Money Earned List. His lifetime earning shot up to $26.9m as he pushed Phil Ivey to the 11th spot.
Speaking to the Triton press core a humble yet confident Koon said: “If anybody else had been in my seat, it would have happened to them.”
